Vocabulary Builder Series - 1 - THE HUMAN BODY

We are presenting the new vocabulary builder series. All words related to a topic will be presented together. Along with it the words will be grouped according to parts of speech.

We are starting with the human body.

PARTS OF THE BODY (Nouns)

ankle - the part of your body where your foot
joins your leg

arm - one of the two parts of your body between
your shoulders and your hands

artery - one of the tubes in your body that carry
blood from your heart to the rest of your
body

back - the part of your body from your neck to
your waist that is on the opposite side to
your chest

blood -the red liquid that flows inside your body

body - all your physical parts

bone - one of the hard white parts inside your
body

bottom - the part of your body that you sit on

brain - the organ inside your head that controls
your body and allows you to think and to
feel things

breast - one of the two soft, round parts on a
woman’s chest that can produce milk to
feed a baby

calf, calves - the thick part at the back of your leg,
between your ankle and your knee

cheek - one of the two sides of your face below
your eyes

chest - the top part of the front of your body

chin - the part of your face below your mouth

ear - one of the two parts of your body that you
hear sounds with

elbow - the part in the middle of your arm where
it bends

eye - one of the two parts of your body that you
see with

eyebrow - one of the two lines of hair that grow
above your eyes

eyelash - one of the hairs that grow on the edges of
your eyelids

eyelid - one of the pieces of skin that cover your
eyes when they are closed

face - the front part of your head

feature - any part of your face, such as your eyes,
your nose or your mouth

finger - one of the long thin parts at the end of
each hand

fist - your hand with your fingers closed tightly
together

flesh - the soft part of your body that is between
your bones and your skin

foot, feet - the part of your body that is at the end of
your leg, and that you stand on

forehead - the front part of your head between your
eyebrows and your hair

hair - 1 the fine threads that grow on your head;
2 the short threads that grow on your
body; He has hair on his chest.

hand - the part of your body at the end of your
arm that you use for holding things

head - the top part of your body that has your

move

nail - the thin hard part that grows at the end of
each of your fingers and toes

neck - the part of your body between your head
and the rest of your body

nose - the part of your face above your mouth,
that you use for smelling and breathing

organ - a part of your body, for example your
brain or your heart, that has a particular
purpose

rib - one of the 12 pairs of curved bones that
surround your chest

shoulder - one of the two parts of your body between
your neck and the tops of your arms

shin - the front part of your leg between your
knee and your ankle

skeleton - all the bones in your body

skin - the substance that covers the outside of
your body

spine - the row of bones down your back

stomach - 1 the organ inside your body where food
goes when you eat it
2 the front part of your body below your
waist

thigh - the top part of your leg, above your knee

throat - 1 the back of your mouth and inside your
neck, where you swallow
2 the front part of your neck

thumb - the short thick part on the side of your
hand next to your four fingers

toe - one of the five parts at the end of your
foot

tongue - the soft part inside your mouth that moves
when you speak or eat

tooth, teeth - one of the hard white objects in your
mouth, that you use for biting and eating

vein - a thin tube in your body that carries blood
to your heart

voice - the sound that comes from your mouth
when you speak or sing

waist - the middle part of your body

wrist - the part between your hand and your arm
that bends when you move your hand
