Books to start your journey in the world of books

In this age of social media, the habit of reading books is falling behind. How do we inculcate the habit of reading in children.

When we talk of learning beyond the school, reading books becomes obvious. If we want to broaden our horizons we have to read books apart from the school text books.

This is easier than said than done is what parents and teachers will say.

Yes, they are correct. Giving children random books and asking them to read may not work most of the time.

The books that we want the children to read, have to be chosen carefully.
See what some experts have to say about the habit of reading.

“Reading should not be presented to children as a chore, a duty. It should be offered as a gift.” – Kate DiCamillo

“Reading aloud with children is known to be the single most important activity for building the knowledge and skills they will eventually require for learning to read.”
― Marilyn Jager Adams

One of the most fun and enjoyable ways that parents and grandparents can spend time with children is reading out books or stories aloud to them.

One good option to start reading books is to start with short stories. Taking into account the attention span of children of various ages, short stories are a good choice.
