SINGULAR AND PLURAL NOUNS
Singular nouns - refer to
one person, place, animal or thing.
Examples – brother, house, fox, camera
Plural nouns- refer to more than one person, place, animal or
thing.
Examples- brothers, houses, foxes, cameras
We add s to most singular nouns to change them into plural nouns.
Examples- crows, schools, girls, toffees
Most singular nouns that end with y are changed into their plurals
by removing y and adding ies
Examples- butterfly - butterflies
story – stories
However, just s is
added if the y comes after the vowel.
Examples- monkey - monkeys

Most singular nouns that end with f or fe are changed into their
plurals by removing f or fe
and adding ves to them.
Examples- leaf - leaves
