Learning techniques from a nuclear scientist

Many of us struggle to understand a subject or a topic throughly. So is there a technique which can make learning simple yet effective?

Richard Feynman, a Nobel prize winning physicist, used a technique which is now called the Feynman Technique.

Apart from being a scientist, he was also a brilliant teacher. This technique follows the age old principle that the best way to learn is to teach.

The Feynman Technique has four steps:
1.Choose a topic that you want to learn.
2. Now write down whatever that you have learnt in a such a way that you are going to teach it to a 10 year old child. Child do not understand the kind of terminology that is normally used by adults. So you have to write it in as simple terms as you can.
3. Go back to the notes that you have taken. You will come to know about the gaps in your understanding.
4. Review the notes and study material.

The most important part of this technique is going beyond terminologies and jargons in order to to understand in plain simple terms.

Richard Feynman himself used to have a notebook which he called the "Notebook of things I don't know about". He used it to study various topics using this technique.

Feynman technique is a wonderful way of learning which will break down the topic to the simplest terms for effective learning. So go ahead and accelerate your learning.
